About Couvaras Architects
Couvaras Architects was established in 2005 and since then have completed a variety of residential, commercial and church projects, from small additions to multi-million dollar developments.
Our residential projects have ranged from modest additions to executive waterfront residences and multi-unit developments. Our commercial projects have included office interiors, a factory complex and a 3 storey suburban office building. We have also undertaken a number of warehouse conversions for churches. Our most significant project to date has been the 1100seat, state of the art, auditorium facility for Shirelive.
Peter Couvaras grew up on a farm in South Africa, and commenced his studies at The University of Cape Town. After migrating to Australia during the bicentenary, he graduated from The University of NSW with first class Honours in 1992. His major thesis focused on the impact of sound systems on the acoustic design of contemporary auditoriums. Peter is a Registered Architect who believes that an architect is a necessity, rather than a luxury.
Chris Freeburn has a certificate in Architectural technology, a bachelor in Architectural design and has completed his Masters degree at The University of NSW, to view Chris’ major work, click here. He has studied under the likes of Glenn Murcutt, Richard Johnson and Ken Maher. In 2010 he was part of a team project that has been nominated for the AIA’s Harry Partridge Prize.
Chris Austin has a diploma in architectural drafting and an advanced diploma in sustainable building technology, and is the newest member of the team. Chris is trained in the latest Architectural software as well as the latest environmental assessment software. He has worked in the construction industry for 7 years and has worked on high profile projects in the residential sector.
We use the latest in 3D architectural modeling software, that enables our clients to visualize their project and helps us resolve potential construction conflicts before they arise on site.
