It’s time to have your say about what get’s built in The Shire!

by | Jul 28, 2021 | The Shire

Sutherland council are in the process of updating the rules about what can be built where and how big it can be. It’s not the developers who make these decisions it is the council and they are asking us what we would like to see.

So please go to the council’s website (link below) and click on the housing our community banner on their home page. They’ve created a really simple intuitive map-based system. All you do is drag an icon onto the map and write a description about what you would like to see or not see in that location. Your comments can be general like, “more units here” or specific, “no more duplexes near my house.”

The best time to comment on what can be built is now, not when the D.A is lodged next door. We have until the 21st of August 2021 to comment, and the more comments the greater chance of the council taking notice! Thank you for taking the time to read this and act on it.
