Established in 2005, Couvaras Architects is at the forefront of innovative, sustainable and practical design. Peter Couvaras and his team specialise in residential work that accommodates the unique challenges of modern urban living and have delivered a wide range of projects – from churches to executive waterfront residences and multi-unit developments.

With an unwavering focus on good design that enhances the quality of life and investment value, Couvaras Architects works within the unique constraints of each brief to produce results that exceed expectations.

We are a small, team-based practice, with big ideas – and a growing portfolio of outstanding projects. Our office is located in the trendy beachside suburb of Cronulla, within easy reach of Sydney airport and the city.

Peter Couvaras grew up on a farm in South Africa, and commenced his studies at The University of Cape Town. After migrating to Australia during the bicentenary, he graduated from The University of NSW with first class Honours in 1992. His major thesis focused on the impact of sound systems on the acoustic design of contemporary auditoriums. Peter also has extensive business experience, having spent 10 years working in the not-for-profit sector, and 4 years as a retail small business owner. He is a Registered Architect who believes that an architect is a necessity, rather than a luxury.

Felix Antonius graduated in architecture from the University of New South Wales with first class honors in 2000. He joined the team after many years in a successful practice of his own.  Felix has experience in a broad range of project types including houses, apartments, nursing homes, places of worship, industrial, and retail. He has had extensive experience as a design architect and a project architect and has undertaken projects from design concepts and feasibility through to completion. Felix is a Registered Architect.

Chris Austin has a diploma in architectural drafting and an advanced diploma in sustainable building technology, and has been part of the team since 2010. Chris is trained in the latest Architectural software as well as the latest environmental assessment software. He previously worked in the construction industry for 7 years and has worked on high profile projects in the residential sector.

Michael Krowka joined Couvaras Architects in 2012 as an architectural draftsman. Michael has a Diploma in Architectural Technology and a Bachelor of Design in Architecture at The University of Sydney. Michael is proficient with the latest architectural software and has worked on numerous high profile projects.

Chris Stringer joined Couvaras Architects in 2015. Chris has a Diploma in Architectural Technology and a Bachelor of Architectural Studies from the University of New South Wales. Chris is proficient with the latest Architectural software with an interest in visualisation and modeling.
